Its case diameter has been increased from 37mm to 40mm, whilst keeping the same classic round design and stepped bezel. The distinctive teardrop lugs also stand out, since they are individually forged, heat treated and hand polished before they are invisibly soldered to the case middle. Inside the Big 8 beats an ultra-thin self-windiing movement that is an upgraded version of the Frédéric Piguet FP1160 calibre, the small seconds version of the renowned Frédéric Piguet 1150. In this case it is rated at 4Hz and offers a 48 hour power reserve thanks to two mainspring barrels operating in series. Its winding rotor is in 21-carat gold and hears a hand engine-turned motif.
