Halcyon Days Prince of Wales on the Embankment Enamel Box

This charming Limited Edition enamel box from Halcyon Days depicts a royal scene from one of London’s snowiest winters. The illustration is based on a work from 1881 by William Smalls. The Prince of Wales is driving a sleigh along the Embankment, with Waterloo Bridge in the background. In January 1881, London experienced blizzards, with 40 inches of snow recorded. The box has a smart dark base that contrasts with the silver-coloured rim. Crafted in Bilston, once the centre of the UK’s enamelling industry, the box is made using the traditional technique of enamel on copper. Limited edition of 150 Length: 3”/7.62cm
